For NECA SA/NT members involved in the Building Industry Redundancy Scheme Trust (BIRST), please note that several months BIRST made contact with RevenueSA seeking a ruling that contributions to BIRST should not be included in Payroll Tax calculations.
BIRST have recently received a response from Revenue SA on this ruling, which is available for NECA members to view here. Please note that BIRST will be notifying all employers that contribute to the scheme to make them aware of the ruling.
