Ladder Selection

ou may recall in earlier articles, NECA SA alerted you to the dangers when working off ladders particularly noting a Coroner’s findings following the fatality of a plumber who fell while working from a step ladder.

WorkSafe in Victoria has released a new guidance note, Prevention of falls in construction – Selection and safe use of portable ladders in response to the Coroner’s recommendations.

Whilst this a Victorian Guidance note, it meets the Duty of Care requirements of Legislation in this State, as our work activities in South Australia are no different to those in Victoria with respect to ladder use. I recommend you implement the advice provided within this guidance into your business.
